Monotype

This is an interesting failure
monotype;
2 (20 x 20cm)

Originally I wanted to use the monotype technique to make a study of a Medieval Initial, however after 3 hrs of fighting with the printing ink and roller I gave up. The design turned out to be far more complicated that the technique would allow, and I ended up angry simply writing "This is an interesting failure" which I actually found quite funny and decided to leave it as my final piece :)

New Moon

acrylic on paper;
70 / 100 cm

I wanted to make an abstract painting, and idea of painting music was abstract enough ;)

I was painting to "New Moon" by Alexandre Desplat, inspired by paintings of Georgia O'Keefe.

Alice in Wonderland

linotype;
each print A4 size

Since my name is Alice, I felt obliged to make something with Alice in the Wonderland theme! ;)

Good Girl vs Bad Girl

embroidery;
2 * 20 / 25 cm

Women for centuries had not been equal with men. They were supposed to be obedient mothers and that was it. The situation totally changed in 20th century with women emancipation. The "new" women became equal to men, eventually privileged for their own opinion. My artwork not only symbolizes the different woman in the past and present, but also two groups we may notice nowadays. One are shy and prefer to stay in the shade. The other are strong, aware of their own sexuality.

The life of an orchid

oil on canvas;
4 * 30 / 30 cm

Present for my Mom, not for sale :)

I love flowers though hate getting them :P I don't like watching the bouquets dying, as it makes me feel uncomfortable that the present is only temporary..

I am completely crazy about Orchids, maybe because when they flower it lasts up to a year, I have over 20 of them at home in Poland :) I dedided to depict the flower's life in different stages: petals, their flowering when the Phaenalopsis looks for me like a beagle puppy with it's ears down, full flowering, dying and drying. For each one I picked slightly different style and oil technique to achieve a varied final effect of the series.

Egyptian Temple

Egyptian temple

Watercolour on paper;
50 / 70 cm
value: 200 £

It took me around 5 hours to make it.

I got an assigment of making a work dedicated to Ancient Egypt, however I wasn't most keen on making Pyramid's studies like everybody else, therefore i decided to make an illustration to a historical event of Napoleon's expedition to Egypt from 1798 when Europe rediscovered Egypt after a couple of centuries. The work presents Napoleon and his experts imagining how a temple looked like in her age of greatest glory :)
